Chris Olney aims to explore the contradictory forces at the heart of human nature, with a fascination for the poetic beauty of the repulsive, the abject, and the grotesque. The large scale paintings amplify the immersive and confrontational aspects of the imagery, while their ambiguity lures us into a twisting, writhing, and chaotic visual experience. The enigmatic forms resonate through subjective/collective symbolism, and attempt to interpret our unstable and heterogenous concepts of self.
